3.0 Semester Credits
This Business Analytics MBA course examines accounting applications
in managerial decision-making and control. The course stresses how
to use rather than how to prepare accounting reports. Topics you will
explore include basic cost concepts, cost-volume-profit relationships,
product costing, differential analysis, strategic product pricing, cost
allocation, budgeting, and the evaluation of financial performance.
You will also learn how Peter Drucker’s concept of management as a liberal art relates to the application of these topics in accounting and
management.
3.0 Semester Credits
Metrics and analysis are hallmarks of advanced management.
Managers must understand the basics and application of descriptive
and inferential statistics, including basic descriptive statistics,
statistical inference, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression,
time series forecasting, inventory models, simulation, queuing, and
decision-making under uncertainty. As a master’s in business analytics
student, you will explore the importance of the proper use of these
metrics and analysis in the application of Drucker’s concept of
management as a liberal art. You will also learn how to develop and
apply graphs and charts to present data effectively and utilize decision
trees and the expected value of information in analysis.
3.0 Semester Credits
This course prepares MBA in Business Analytics students to navigate
the ethical and leadership challenges of management careers. Ethical
dilemmas are common in the business decision-making process, and
leadership plays a crucial role in achieving acceptable results. This
course aims to enhance your proficiency in issue recognition,

This Business Analytics MBA course introduces you to the basic decision models of financial management, preparing you to take an
active role in organizational financial decision-making in your career.
You will explore the theory, methods, and concerns of corporate
finance through topics such as financial statements interpretation and
analysis, management of cash flow and working capital, pro forma
analysis, the time value of money and capital budgeting techniques,
long-term financing instruments, security market efficiency, and value
creation principles. You will also learn about Drucker’s concept of
management as a liberal art and its connection with corporate
mission, profits, social responsibility, and service to society.

3.0 Semester Credits
In this master’s in business analytics course, you will learn about
business and consumer information systems. Topics covered include
management information systems theory and practice as they relate
to management and organizational theories, as well as the use of IT in
different functional areas of the firm. You will examine the role of the
internet in facilitating, augmenting, and providing competitive
advantage for information systems. You will also explore the
application of IT in gaining information and learn to apply it to the
right measures, in accordance with Drucker’s concept of management
as a liberal art.
3.0 Semester Credits
This Business Analytics MBA course deals with human behavior in
organizations. It employs several conceptual frameworks, case
discussions, and skill-oriented activities, challenging you to apply
these to advanced management and organizational behavior. These
include motivation, learning and development, group dynamics,
leadership, communication, power and influence, change, diversity,
organizational design, and culture. As a master’s in business analytics
student, you will also explore Drucker’s concept of management as a
liberal art, its connection with productivity, and how one analyzes and
organizes knowledge work in this context.
3.0 Semester Credits
This Business Analytics MBA course emphasizes the strategic
management processes, tools, and strategic framework managers and
business experts use to make decisions in today’s complex
environment. The content of the course is practical and aims to
provide MBA in Business Analytics students with an integrative
learning experience. You will examine the connection between
business ethics, social responsibility and sustainability, and Drucker’s
concept of management as a liberal art. The course covers the
concepts of vision, mission, and determination of the basic long-term
goals and objectives of a company, internal and external analysis,
strategic tools and alternatives available to an organization, the
adoption of a course of action and its implementation, and the
allocation of resources for carrying out these objectives.
Prerequisite: A student must successfully complete thirty (30) units of
CIAM coursework (which could include transfer courses) prior to
enrolling in Strategic Management, MGT 511.
3.0 Semester Credits
Marketing is one of the most important, complex, and fascinating
management disciplines and has close ties to other functions of the
firm, such as R&D, operations, and finance. Peter Drucker once said
that marketing was too important to be left to marketers. This course
provides Business Analytics MBA students with an understanding of
marketing fundamentals, the marketing environment, and marketing
research. You will examine how Drucker’s concept of management as
a liberal art relates to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and
corporate marketing. You will also explore buying behavior,
psychological processes that affect consumer behavior, market
segmentation, brand positioning, product differentiation, marketing
strategy, and value creation.
3.0 Semester Credits
Operations management is the study and application of best practices
for coordinating people and technology to achieve goals efficiently.
This MBA in Business Analytics course provides an understanding of
global supply chain management, lean operations, and forecasting
methods. You will also examine the link between Drucker’s concept of
management as a liberal art and corporate social responsibility (CSR),
productivity, and competitiveness. While you will explore several
topics such as process design and quality control, most of this course
will focus on capacity planning, forecasting, inventory control (part of
supply chain management), and continuous process improvement.

3.0 Semester Credits
Structured query language (SQL) is the language of databases.
Whether you are running reports or collecting data for analysis, you
need to know SQL to add, delete, edit, and view records. This Business
Analytics concentration course provides a step-by-step overview and
instructions that will help you get started with SQL language. You will
learn how to create SQL statements for data storage, data collection,
data computation, and reporting. Upon completion of this course,
Business Analytics MBA students will be able to manage, query, and
analyze business datasets by using relational database. Turning to
Peter Drucker’s ideas of management as a liberal art, students will
also explore ethical issues and learn to define ethical boundaries in
analyzing data.

3.0 Semester Credits
This MBA in Business Analytics concentration course will introduce
you to the theory and applications of probability and statistics. Topics
include fundamental concepts of probability, conditional probability,
random variables, common distributions, and statistical inference
(estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression). As a Business Analytics MBA student, you will learn many practical skills, such as
descriptive statistics analysis, A/B testing, and data visualization. This
course emphasizes developing problem-solving skills and applying key
results to business analysis with Excel and Tableau. You will describe
how organizations that use this data and respect human dignity
through data privacy embody the best aspects of Drucker’s ideas of
management as a liberal art.

3.0 Semester Credits
This Business Analytics concentration course teaches the scientific
process of transforming data into insights for making better business
decisions. The course covers the methodologies, issues, and
challenges related to analyzing business data. It will illustrate the
processes of analytics by allowing you to apply business analytics
algorithms and methodologies to business problems. You will learn
data cleanup, data exploration analysis, forecasting, classification, and
clustering. Upon completion of this course, Business Analytics MBA
students will be able to develop business analytics ideas, analyze data,
and generate business insights using R language and Tableau. The
course will also continue on the theme of Peter Drucker’s ideas of
management as a liberal art by exploring how Drucker’s ideas can be
applied in preventing abuse of “big data.”
